Bio
I'm a assistant professor at the University Carlos III in Madrid, where I teach Management and Organizations and conduct research on innovation policies and regional development.

I received my PhD in Public Policy and Management from the Heinz School of Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, where I also earned my Master of Science in Public Policy.

My research focuses on innovation, creativity and regional development, and looks at the social and cultural dimensions of creativity and innovation and their linkages with economic development. My work on the creative potential of cities and regions has been featured in international journals and newspapers such as Harvard Business Review and the Financial Times.

I also serve as an Expert for the European Commission on Creativity and Innovation and have consulted for the Department of Social and Economic Affairs of the United Nations as well as for several national, regional and city governments and development agencies.

I write for the Italian newspaper La Stampa. On March 2010 I was appointed Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
